It’s not me. I don’t recognize this person. This was a studio experiment in self portraiture. A friend had introduced me to the work of an incredible photographer Brock Elbank #mrelbank @mrelbank whose work I find so inspiring. He focused on freckles and people with qualities normally understood as imperfections in society. And he focuses on those imperfections and makes what I feel is an incredibly beautiful and moving photograph. I have loved following his work and have tried to figure out his technique. He is certainly a master at his craft and there is no way I can match his product but I came across some techniques that somewhat capture the basics of his ideals. This image is shot simply, through a Infared filter that highlights certain things in a persons face. This is what I came up with as I played around with the camera filters in the studio, attempting to bring up certain emotions and feelings as I went along. It’s an interesting thing when you are in the studio taking a self portrait by yourself and you can really work out different ways to express the way you feel. I don’t feel that this represents me and my image or the way I look in any way; It’s just a trick of the camera; but it was an experience I wished to share anyways.
