Tongariro National Park, New Zealand. The Tongariro Crossing is often considered to be the finest "one day walk" in New Zealand, if not the world. The trail takes hikers through a volcanic plateau of old lava flows and volcanic craters from Mt. Tongariro, Ruapehu, and Ngauruhoe.

New Zealand's Aoraki / Mount Cook village is located in the central part of the South Island, deep in the heart of the Southern Alps. A man raises his arms in joy as he watches the stunning sunset in the center of the park.
